Humpback Whale Behaviors

Humpback whales are the most surface active of all the great whales, exhibiting many amazing behaviors, besides breaching. Some, such as tail throwing, tail lobbing and head lunging, are stunning displays of power, while fluke-up diving is graceful and flipper waving is downright odd. Humpbacks employ a remarkable variety of feeding strategies including lunge feeding, bubble net feeding, and social foraging when up twenty whales may feed together.
