Whales are huge, way bigger than most of the dinosaurs. Humpback whales grow to fifty feet long. That’s bigger than my Dad’s boat and bigger than my classroom at school. Last week at school my teacher Mrs. Salmon taught us about the parts of a whale. She said parts of the body are called anatomy.

Whales can do amazing things that we call behaviors. Last year, a photographer visited us from Redwood City, California. His name is Jim Nahmens and he is crazy about whales too. He came here to take pictures of whale behaviors. Here are some of his favorites. When humpbacks dive they lift their flukes high out of the water. This is called a fluke-up dive.
